National, State and Territory Carers Associations
Carers Australia (National)
Carers Australia is dedicated to improving the lives of carers. Its highest priority is to
promote recognition of the important role that carers have in the community and to empower carers
to be better informed and resourced. Contact information for State & Territory Carers Associations
is available from the national office, or via the national website.
Carers ACT (Australian Capital Territory)
Carers ACT provide information, counselling, education and support for people who have
taken on caring responsibilities. The role of Carers ACT is to participate in a partnership with
Government and the Non-Government sector for the provision of better services, to improve the conditions
under which Carers work and to increase recognition of Carers' contribution to the ACT community.
Carers NSW (New South Wales)
Carers NSW is an association for relatives and friends who are caring for people with a disability,
mental illness, chronic condition or who are fail aged. Carers NSW is the Peak Body for carers in New
South Wales and the only statewide organisation that has carers as its primary focus.
NT Carers Association (Northern Territory)
The NT Carers Association provides a number of services direct to carers. Most are free of
charge and are available to carers regardless of age, employment status, gender or nature of
the disability or illness of the person for whom you are caring.
Carers Queensland
Carers Queensland is dedicated to supporting carers in Queensland through: the provision of information
and support; community development and counselling. Carers Queensland is also committed to advancing the
recognition of the role of carers through ongoing advocacy, negotiation and communication with Government
(at all levels), Service Providers and other Community Agencies.
Carers SA (South Australia)
The Carers Association is the peak Carers organisation representing all Carers in South Australia. The
Association is a non-profit incorporated community-based organization. The Carers Association of South Australia
aims to empower Carers to participate in partnership with government and non-government organisations for the
provision of better services, to improve the conditions under which Carers work, and to increase recognition of
Carers' contribution to the South Australian community and economy.
Carers Association of Tasmania
The Carers Association is a non-government, non-profit organization. The Carers Association
endeavours to promote the roles and interests of Carers at all levels of the Tasmanian community
to enhance their quality of life.
Carers Victoria
Carers Victoria is the only statewide organisation in Victoria that has carers as its primary focus.
We offer direct services to support carers in their caring role, and Education and Training and advocacy
programs to increase awareness of carers and carer's issues.
Carers WA (Western Australia)
Carers WA is a non-profit community based organisation and registered charity dedicated to improving
the lives of the estimated 200,000 family Carers living in Western Australia. Part of the National
Carers Association, we are the peak body recognized both state and federally, as the voice of family
carers representing your interests in the Western Australian community. Our role is to work in active
partnership with carers, persons with care and support needs, health professionals, service providers,
government and the wider community to achieve an improved quality of life for Carers.
