Project Respect
Project Respect is an Australian non-government organisation which challenges exploitation of and violence
against women in the sex industry. Project Respect conducts outreach and offers services to women in brothels
especially where there is a high concentration of women from non-English speaking backgrounds. We have a
particular focus on women trafficked to Australia for prostitution, and other women experiencing harm and
violence within the sex industry. We undertake advocacy and public education, and collaborate closely with
partners in trafficking 'sending countries', particularly in the Asia-Pacific. We are committed to global

Canberra Rape Crisis Centre
The Canberra Rape Crisis Centre offers a 24 hour crisis line for victims/survivors of any recent
and past sexual crimes such as sexual assault, indecent assault, sexual harassment etc. Additionally
concerned third parties of victims such as family members and friends can access the 24 hour crisis line.
We offer crisis appointments for recent rapes and callouts where crisis workers attend the police station
or the hospital with a woman who has just been raped. The Rape Crisis Center offers face to face counseling
to women and children including boys up to the age of 16 years. Additionally the Rape Crisis Center offers
support groups for victims/survivors. Other services of the Rape Crisis Center include community education,
access and equity, aboriginal education and support programme (Nguru).
