A Place to be Me - By Helen McKeon

From: Women and Disability - An Issue. A Collection of writings by women with disabilities. Produced by the Melbourne based Women with Disabilities Feminist Collective. Copyright.

I want a place to sleep deeply

I want a place to move unquestioned

I want a place to eat safely

I want a place to work uninterrupted

I want a place to write privately

I want a place to think alone

I want a place to sit quietly

I want a place to read oblivious

I want a place to listen in silence

I want a place to talk uninvaded

I want a place to love unhurt

I want a place to live in peace

I want a place to be me

And I want a garden.
